Verlander Tosses Another Gem
May 25, 2009
Justin Verlander’s return to form was on display for all to see today. He picked up his 5th win in 7 innings of work, letting up 0 runs, 0 walks, 5 hits, while striking out 8. Last week I identified the early signs of Verlander’s comeback season, but since that time he’s put in two more good performances: today’s, and his 6 inning, 1 ER, 8 K performance on May 20.
For the season, Verlander is now 5-2 with a 3.55 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 85 K’s in 63.1 innings pitched. Can you say fantasy baseball all-star? He may be too expensive to trade for now, but there’s no question that he can single-handedly help a team that is struggling in strikeouts.
